Terms of Service

Last updated 19 October 2026 · Applies to PowerMode for macOS 14 and later

These terms govern your use of PowerMode, a macOS application. By downloading, installing, or using it, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Licence

PowerMode is distributed directly from this site and sold as a one-time license through Gumroad for $8. A license is personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable, and lets you install and use the app on up to 3 Macs that you own or control. A license is a purchase of the current major version; future major versions may be sold separately.

You may not:

  • resell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the app or a license;
  • reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent its licensing or distribution except where that restriction is prohibited by law;
  • remove or alter any proprietary notices.

PowerMode and its name, icon, and design remain the property of their author. This license grants use, not ownership. The key-sound recordings that ship with the app are the work of the Mechvibes and kbsim communities under the MIT License; their license text ships with each set inside the app.

Acceptable use

Use PowerMode lawfully and on systems you are authorised to use. Do not use it in a way that damages or disrupts others.

What the app does

PowerMode draws over other apps' windows as you type and, if you turn them on, plays key sounds. It needs the macOS Accessibility permission to find where you type; the privacy policy describes exactly what is read and what never is. Some apps do not tell macOS where their cursor is; there the burst does not appear, by design.

No warranty

PowerMode is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You use it at your own risk. It is a convenience utility, not a guaranteed or safety-critical service, and it does not promise that every app exposes its cursor or that every effect renders identically on every display.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author of PowerMode is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, work, profits, or time, arising from your use of or inability to use the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

Billing and refunds

The license is sold and billed by Gumroad; refunds follow Gumroad's policy. We do not store your payment details and cannot see your card or bank information.

Changes to the app and these terms

PowerMode may change over time — features can be added, changed, or removed. These terms may change too; when they do, the date at the top moves, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the author's place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here removes any consumer right you have that cannot be waived under the law that applies to you.
