What changed in each release of PowerMode.

0.1.0

not yet released

The first release is being prepared. This page fills in the day it ships; what follows is what it will contain.

In the first release

  • A burst at the cursor — type in any app and a burst of particles rises from where you type; the last letters carry a colour trail. Seven looks: Confetti, Sparks, Fireworks, Flames, Magic, Rift and Stardust. One click on a look gives a complete effect.
  • Milestones — at 10, 25, 50 and 100 keys in a row the colours change and a shockwave rolls out.
  • The whole screen — optional: Rain, Sunlight, Starfield, Wind or Fireworks across the display you are typing on, following how fast you type. "Match the look" pairs one with your look.
  • Key sounds — nine sets: eight recorded mechanical switches (Oreo, Crystal Purple, Topre, Blue, Brown, Holy Panda, Box Navy, Buckling spring) and a synthesised Typewriter, or a folder of your own. Space, Return and Delete sound different; letting a key go has a sound of its own.
  • Settings with a stage — Appearance opens on a stage that types a sentence by itself with your choices; click it and type yourself. Looks and whole-screen effects are cards; the colour trail and the intensity are a row each.
  • The menu bar — a caret with a face that smiles when ready, sleeps while keyboard input is private, and closes its eyes when off. Pause for 30 minutes, an hour, the rest of today, or in just one app.
  • Every app — Notes, Mail, Safari, Xcode, Chrome and the other Chromium browsers, VS Code and Slack. A terminal keeps the whole-screen effect and the sounds; password fields and the lock screen get nothing.
  • Reduce Motion — every look has a Calm variant, the trail thins to an underline and the whole-screen effect turns off.
  • One permission — Accessibility, to see where you type. PowerMode counts keystrokes; it never reads what you type.
